Walla Walla Valley Academy Orchestra Concert In St. Nicholas Church In Prague
The Walla Walla Valley Academy Orchestra took part in the 2011 American Celebration of Music in Austria and the Czech Republic, June 6 – 15, 2011. Their performances included a concert at Pfarrekirche Hinterbrühl, as a benefit for a development project in Albania which finances higher education for young scholars, a concert at the Institute for the Blind in Vienna, a concert at the 7th Day Adventist Church in Salzburg as a benefit for a health training program, and a concert at the Mozarthaus in St. Gilgen. Dr. Benjamin Gish, Artistic Director, had this to say about the experience:
The tour to Austria was a great success. We absolutely loved Julia [Tour Manager] and wish we could take her to live in Walla Walla with us. She was right on top of verifying all our appointments, was good at communicating expectations for keeping on schedule. She was flexible if we asked to arrange a little more time in one place, or add a visit to another. We could not have asked for anything more in a tour manager. I was pleased with all of the venues for different reasons. It was a nice variety of places, but they were all well attended. My highlight was the performance in St. Nicholas Church. It brought tears to my eyes. The kids looked so fantastic and sounded that good too. The church was packed from beginning to end. All my interactions with the Music Celebrations team were positive. One of the major reasons we chose Music Celebrations was because Collette always answered my phone calls or e-mails quickly and was a good communicator. She was also helpful in comparing costs with other companies. Amy also was good at returning calls and either already knowing the answers to my questions, or finding them…the results can speak for themselves; fabulous venues. I am happy to serve as a reference for MCI.
