Beyond the practice rooms and rehearsals, there are moments that ignite a true passion for music and create lasting impressions. Valley High School joined us in Washington D.C. for our annual Capital Orchestra Festival. not only where the students focused on their performance; they were also captivated by the American heritage surrounding them.

Our orchestra program had a great experience with Music Celebrations at the Capital Orchestra Festival. Traveling with a large group can be challenging, but this trip had something for everyone. We were able to work with our guide, Brenda, to ensure that every big sight in Washington DC was on our itinerary. At every location, she shared a wealth of information with our students, and she was easy to work with when we needed to make small adjustments.

Leading up to the festival, our students had fun dancing on the lunch cruise (a bonding experience for them). We also enjoyed working with the clinician. It was helpful to get some last minute details together before the performance day.

High school students don’t always recognize how special experiences are in the moment, but our students were in awe on stage at the Kennedy Center. Moments like this will stay with them for the rest of their lives, and we were so happy that a large number of families were able to get free tickets to watch the performance. Because the festival was so well run, our students and directors were able to focus on the experience instead of worrying about where to go when.

Following the performance, our group had a fun celebration while bowling and playing arcade games. Thank you for helping us give this opportunity to our students!
