The Our Lady of Light Band was among five outstanding wind ensembles to perform in the internationally-renowned John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts as part of the 3rd annual Sousa Band Festival. Under the direction of Scott Lopes, the Our Lady of Light Band performed a standalone concert of John Philip Sousa literature to a large audience. They also experienced the highlight of working with the 2017 Festival Clinician, Retired Colonel Arnald D. Gabriel, before their performance. Read what director, Scott Lopes, had to say about his experience:
“I still feel like I am dreaming when it comes time for the Sousa Band Festival Performance. The crowd was amazing and the acoustics were unbelievable. It really was such an inspiring place to perform, and at times a little overwhelming, but in a great way. It was definitely the highlight of my musical career and something that my group will never forget.
I cannot speak highly enough about my entire MCI team. From my first interaction with Cutler to my constant interactions with both Alyssa and Erin, I feel like we established a GREAT relationship. It was an honor and a pleasure working with you and everyone at MCI. Thank you so much for this opportunity we will truly never forget it.”
