Music Celebrations has had the distinct pleasure of partnering with Dr. Gayle Walker in producing life changing performance tours to Europe (4x’s) and China for the Otterbein University Concert Choir. Their most recent performance tour (December ‘17/January ’18) took them to Germany, a destination with unparalleled performance opportunities, and which has produced more music and greater composers than any country in Europe. Dr. Walker reports:
“We had a wonderful trip to Germany with Music Celebrations International [MCI]. As always, our MCI guide was superb; Julia quickly became a part of our team, and everyone appreciated her warmth, smiles, and energy. The trip included performances in the Cologne Cathedral, and 2 of Bach’s churches – Thomaskirche and Nicolaikirche in Leipzig, where an audience of over 700 lined up around the block to get tickets for the concert! The choir also performed at Frauenkirche in Dresden, Kirche Phöben in Werder, and Christuskirche in Schwelm. The singers visited the Beethoven birthplace in Bonn, the Bach museum in Leipzig, Roman ruins in Cologne, the palaces of Frederick the Great in Potsdam, and the Berlin wall, “Checkpoint Charlie,” and the holocaust museum and memorial in Berlin. Our students immediately grasped the significance of these locations with regards to the music we are studying and singing: “I can say without a doubt that this experience changed my life. I made wonderful memories with friends and the people we touched through our performances!” (junior choir member).”
Until next time, best wishes to all at MCI!”
