Being in Washington, D.C., over the 4th of July will provide poignant memories for anyone who visits.  There is no better place to celebrate America’s birthday!  Visitors can see the Declaration of Independence at the National Archives Building, visit Mount Vernon (George & Martha Washington’s estate), visit the Smithsonian Museum of American History (one of 17 Smithsonian Museums located in DC), visit monuments and memorials dedicated to statesmen and America’s war heroes, visit the gravesite of John Philip Sousa, and attend the PBS Broadcast “A Capitol Fourth” concert, featuring the National Symphony, celebrities, and dignitaries.  The Mount Zion Bulldogs & Zionettes recently returned from being a representative of Georgia in the 2024 National Independence Day Parade in Washington, D.C.  Director Terrell Mitchell reports:

This was an awesome experience for my students and myself… The sightseeing and pacing were tailored to our needs so, it was awesome! My students and I enjoyed the hotel. The staff was great, and the breakfast was great as well. (Our tour guide) was amazing!!!! She was very knowledgeable about the city and its history. She was also very flexible to our needs.
