Our recent choir pilgrimage to Italy was nothing short of transformative. To sing in the historic cities of Rome, Sorrento, and Naples—especially during the Year of Jubilee and in the wake of Pope Leo’s election—was to feel the deep intertwining of history, faith, and music. International travel opens the soul in ways that few other experiences can, and performing in sacred, centuries-old spaces elevated our music into something timeless and transcendent. My students were not just visitors, but active participants in a living tradition, finding their voices echoed in cathedrals that have housed generations of song. This journey reshaped how we understand the world, ourselves, and the unifying power of choral music.
