The Kansas State University Chamber Orchestra took part in an 11-day concert tour of Ireland earlier this year as part of the American Celebration of Music in Ireland. The director, Dr. David Littrell, had this to say about the experience:
We’re back safely from Ireland. Perfect flights, perfect tour, great concerts. Noel Kissane was absolutely wonderful as our tour guide and covered all the bases very well. He was constantly phoning ahead to see that things were in place. I can honestly say we did not have any major or even minor hitch the entire trip. Sunshine every day except first day and when we flew from Dublin – unheard of in Ireland to have so many days of sunshine in a row. Joint concert with U Cork Choir was great! I can truly say that this was a perfect trip. Again, we never had any problems. The students never grumbled about anything – how can that be possible with 31 distinct personalities? The kids were on time for the bus each day, Noel and Bernard [our motorcoach driver] were fabulous, the sightseeing was fantastic, and we never felt pushed for time – quite relaxing.
