North County High School Band Director Shane Verges thanks the school board and the community for their support of the marching band’s recent participation in the National Memorial Day Parade. A total of 112 students made the trip to Washington D.C. This was the third time the Raider Regiment participated in and represented the state of Missouri at the National Memorial Day Parade in Washington D.C. This year 112 North County band students went on the five-day trip. While in D.C., the band toured Arlington National Cemetery and saw the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. They also toured the National Holocaust Museum, the Smithsonian, Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the U.S. Capitol, White House, and the Lincoln, Jefferson, Martin Luther King, Vietnam War, and Korean War memorials. The band laid a wreath at the World War II Memorial and performed in a National Memorial Day Concert, as well as the three-hour parade down Constitution Avenue in Washington DC. The trip was made possible through numerous fundraisers and the generous donations of many groups and individuals.
