Dr. Welborn Young, Festival Director
Welborn E. Young, Assistant Professor of Music at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, holds degrees from the University of Illinois and Middle Tennessee State University. His University responsibilities include conducting the Chamber Singers and Women's Choir and teaching advanced conducting to both undergraduate and graduate students.
Since 2000 he has served as Conductor of the Choral Society of Greensboro. He has served as guest conductor, clinician, and adjudicator for numerous workshops, honor choirs, and clinics, in North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, South Carolina, the District of Columbia, and Illinois. Most recently, his choirs have toured Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, and England. He is the former Artistic Director and Conductor for Windy City Performing Arts, Inc. in Chicago. His guest conducting has included work at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and with the Grant Park Symphony Chorus, Nashville Symphony Chorus and Nashville Opera Association.
