Prague Instrumental Festival

Prague | March 15-18, 2018
Smetana Hall

Music Celebrations International is proud to produce this event in Smetana Hall at the Municipal House, home of the Prague Symphony Orchestra, on March 17, 2018. Centrally accessible to the city of Prague, the hall is a tribute to the creator of modern Czech music - Bedrich Smetana. Portraits of renowned Czech composers and murals decorate the walls of this festive and airy venue. Four select ensembles will perform a stand-alone, featured performance at this historic concert venue to commemorate Beethoven, Dvorák, and other great composers.

The ninth-annual Percy Grainger Wind Band Festival will feature four outstanding wind ensembles conducting featured, stand-alone performances of Percy Grainger and other select literature in an matinee performance in Chicago's Historic Orchestra Hall at Symphony Center. Each ensemble will also take part in a clinic with a noted band conductor.

D-Day Memorial Wind Band Concert

To commemorate the 74th anniversary of the battle, a D-Day Memorial Concert will take place on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. on June 6, 2017. The concert will feature the D-Day Memorial Wind Band – a mass band consisting of bands from across the United States invited to visit our nation’s capital and join together to perform as part of this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The D-Day Memorial Wind Band will be conducted by the legendary Colonel Arnald D. Gabriel – Conductor Emeritus of the United States Air Force Band, and member of the United States Army’s 29th Infantry Division that fought in the Battle of Normandy.

D-Day Memorial Concert Series

Normandy, France | June 6, 2018

Music Celebrations is pleased to announce our involvement in the annual D-Day Memorial Concert Series, a unique opportunity for American choirs, wind bands, and orchestras, to visit France, perform memorial concerts for its citizens, and commemorate those men and women who fought so valiantly there during the Allied Invasion in 1944.  During this special tribute tour, participating ensembles will visit many poignant locations of the 1944 Normandy Landings, including the battle sites of Caen and St. Malo, as well as the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial – the resting place for so many Americans that lost their lives during the invasion.

For orchestral musicians, Prague is the Mecca from which many great artists have earned their prominence. It is this rich tapestry of music history that is drawn upon by the Prague Orchestra Festival: From Beethoven to Dvořák. From Beethoven's compositional visits to Prague in the late 1790’s, to the imprint on 20th century music that famed Czech composer Dvořák left, we celebrate these and other masters of great musical art through this festival. Participation in the 75th Anniversary Pearl Harbor Mass Band is an opportunity to perform with bands from around the United States of America and Japan in a mass band concert commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, December 7, 2016.

December 7, 1941 is forever etched in the history and culture of both countries. It is our ultimate goal to pay respect, remember and never forget the tragedies of World War II. Our mission of this cultural exchange is to show the world in a truly remarkable manner how cultures once opposed can now work together and learn from each other through the gift of music.

This is a Once in a Lifetime opportunity for music students, and the event is open to all bands and individual musicians that wish to participate.
